You Will Learn:

Kundalini & Inner Fire

The third chapter starts with a powerful discussion on how to awaken the inner fire (kundalini) and the release of the chakra knots.

Ten Seals

These seals, or mudras, are physical practices that use the inner winds to bring the mind up to the very edge of seeing emptiness itself. These practices overlap with the Diamond Way teachings with the foundation established in the previous two chapters.

Emptiness & The True Nature of Reality

Learn the meditation techniques such as the practice of sacred sounds (nada yoga). These lead us to a profound form of dissolution (laya) that is the gateway to seeing emptiness directly and the destruction of all negative thoughts and negative seeds.

Learn from Master Teacher Michael Roach

Last time Geshe Michael taught this text, he said, "we don’t plan to teach it again. So I think if you like the subject, then I think it’s important to try learn the whole thing now while you can."

Don't miss this opportunity to join this course!

Michael Roach is¬†the first American to complete the ‚ÄúGeshe‚ÄĚ degree after 25 years of study in India. At the same time, he helped found Andin International Diamond Corporation in New York City, where he used yogic principles to help it grow from a small investment to $250 million USD in annual sales. Andin was ultimately purchased in 2009 by super-investor Warren Buffet. Geshe Michael‚Äôs profits from¬†the sale¬†were used almost entirely to create and support several charitable organizations,¬†one of which¬†was an input project that has now digitized over 2 million pages of Asia's classic philosophical texts.

Get the essence of the essence of the most essential text in yoga philosophy.

To translate the Hatha Yoga Pradipika authentically requires one to practice these teachings for many years. And this is best done in deep retreat.

It is from the experience gained from doing these practices in deep solitude that allowed Geshe Michael to translate this text authentically, experientially, like few masters before.

This is how YSI does yoga different.

About the Hatha Yoga Pradipika

The Hatha Yoga Pradipika describes the science and philosophy of Hatha Yoga:

+ asana (physical postures)
+ pranayama (breath and subtle energy)
+ shatkarma (cleansing)
+ mudra (subtle energetic connection)
+ bandha (energetic locks)
+ samadhi (perfect meditation)

These practices, when combined with deep understanding of how and why they work, help us to overcome the challenges and struggles that hold us back in our day-to-day life.

Written in the 15th century by Master Swatmarama, the text shows a path to its practitioners that will ultimately bring a sense of rich vitality, deep internal peace, and total personal fulfillment‚Äďnot only for our own sake, but so that we can most powerfully help others.

Why learn with the Yoga Studies Institute?

We do yoga different. If you've taken our other courses and classes, then you already know that! When practice is based in original yogic wisdom, it just feels different.

We source our material from over 2 million pages of classic Asian texts which have been preserved and digitized by our partners at the Asian Legacy Library. Together, our teams have taken painstaking measures to translate, understand, and apply the original yogic texts so that we could share them with you in the most clear and easy-to-apply ways.

Having a lineage of authentic wisdom is important.

We believe this information needs to be integrated through years of practice and meditative contemplation. Many of our instructors have completed over 1000 days of silent meditation retreat practicing yoga and synthesizing this knowledge into experiential wisdom.
