By engaging with the text daily, you bring the ancient wisdom of Bhagavad Gita into your practice, building a connection between the words and your lived experience on the mat and beyond.
Features to take your Bhagavad Gita study deeper:
Traditional Format
The loose binding format allows each page to be picked up individually, making it easier to focus on specific verses during study or recitation.
Unique Fabric Wrapping
Traditionally, pechas are wrapped in ornate fabric (often silk or cotton) to protect the loose pages and symbolize respect for the text. Each pecha will be wrapped with a unique covering, handmade by friends of YSI.
Handcrafted Wooden Covers
Beneath the fabric, the pecha is protected by handmade wooden ends, crafted to honor the traditional pecha format. This feature adds durability and a touch of artistry to each piece, making it ideal for display as well as study.
Ornate Design & Layout
Use to recite every verse of the Bhagavad Gita. Designed with care, the layout reflects the beauty of Devanagari and Sanskrit, alongside translations by Geshe Michael Roach in English (or other selected languages), allowing you to immerse in the original text.
Full-Color Chapter Openings
At the start of each chapter, full-color pages include YSI’s signature art and course titles, marking the beginning of a new section of verses from YSI’s courses. These vibrant pages connect the ancient words to YSI's modern touch.

About Pechas
Pecha is a term to describe a traditional book format originating in ancient India and Western China, has preserved wisdom for centuries.
Historically, pechas have held the teachings of great masters, passed down to guide students on their spiritual paths. Their unbound structure symbolizes the flowing nature of wisdom—each page can stand alone, yet together they reveal a deeper understanding. The Bhagavad Gita pecha you hold is a modern tribute to this timeless tradition, connecting you to generations of yogis who have sought deeper understanding through these cherished pages.
Before course manuals printed with laser printers, ancient practitioners studied yoga using hand written or wood block texts printed on handmade papers.
Our Bhagavad Gita is a beautiful representation of classical tradition, with English, Sanskrit and Devangari for every verse. This is for those who seek to deeply embody the teachings of yoga.
